Overview of the Development History and Comprehensive Strength of the Department

In 1999, the pharmacy department officially opened with the hospital, and in August 2014, the pharmacy department was established. After twenty years of cultivation, the Pharmacy Department has developed into a comprehensive pharmaceutical technology department that integrates drug procurement, supply, dispensing, management, clinical pharmacy, rational drug use, drug clinical trial institutions, and scientific research and teaching.

The Pharmacy Department of Peking University Shenzhen Hospital is a national training base for clinical pharmacists, a national demonstration base for rational drug use, a national clinical trial institution for drugs, a teaching base for clinical pharmacy majors at Shenzhen University and Guizhou Medical University, a chairman unit for pharmaceutical management and clinical pharmacy of the Shenzhen Medical Association, a chairman unit for elderly pharmacy of the Shenzhen Pharmaceutical Association, a chairman unit for pharmaceutical management of the Shenzhen Pharmaceutical Association, and a leading unit for the Shenzhen Medical Defense Integration Community Medication Project.

 

Team member structure, strength, department size, advanced equipment, etc

The pharmacy department currently has 115 pharmacists, including 18 clinical pharmacists. There are 8 people with doctoral degrees, 16 people with master's degrees, 9 chief pharmacists, and 19 deputy chief pharmacists. The pharmacy department has a drug dispensing department, a drug procurement and supply department, and a clinical pharmacy department. The existing business premises cover an area of nearly 2500 square meters, including a static dispensing center of 750 square meters. The outpatient pharmacy prepares 6500 prescriptions per day, the inpatient pharmacy prepares 4000 medical orders per day, and the intravenous infusion center prepares 550 bags per day. Equipped with 2 sets of outpatient automatic dispensing equipment, 2 single dose oral sorting machines, 1 verification machine, 5 Ma Jing intelligent cabinets, 1 dispensing robot, 2 desktop dispensing machines, and intelligent equipment for automated dispensing, sorting, and dispensing.

 

Specialized advantage technology and characteristic management project

Building a clinical pharmacy service platform can provide diversified pharmacy services for all clinical departments in the hospital, including pharmacy consultations, MDT consultations, difficult case discussions, physician pharmacist joint clinics, pharmacy clinics, patient medication education, personalized drug precision therapy, and clinical rational drug use control. Constantly innovate the pharmaceutical service mode, carry out community pharmaceutical services, scientific creation and dissemination of rational drug use, artificial intelligence pharmacy, pharmacy Internet plus, etc.

Establish an intelligent chain unified acceptance platform, electronic tag system, and intelligent drug management system to achieve intelligent drug acceptance and storage, in stock management, and drug batch number traceability management. By utilizing modern logistics technology, rational drug use management information technology, intelligent dispensing, dispensing, medicine cabinets and other automated equipment, we aim to achieve full closed-loop management of drugs at the hospital level, ensuring drug quality and patient medication safety.

 

Overview of scientific research and teaching

The Pharmacy Department is responsible for the training of clinical pharmacists by the National Health Commission and practical teaching tasks in multiple pharmaceutical colleges and universities within and outside Guangdong Province. It also provides guidance for graduate students from medical colleges such as Shantou University, Guizhou Medical University, and Hubei Medical College, with 5 qualified graduate supervisors. Seven clinical pharmacists have been trained and eight are currently enrolled; Train 8 master's students and currently have 5 students enrolled.

In the past 5 years, a total of 20 scientific research projects at all levels and types have been approved, including 2 natural science projects in China, 3 national postdoctoral projects, and 6 provincial-level projects, with a total research funding of 1.69 million yuan. Accumulated publication of 40 academic papers, including 19 SCI papers, with a cumulative impact factor of 126.13 points.

 

Future Development Goals

In the future, the department will build a key discipline of clinical pharmacy that is patient-centered, with rational drug use as the goal, scientific research as the means, and solving clinical drug problems as the core. Clinical practice, teaching, and scientific research will develop in a coordinated manner.
